LEVEL A LOADING
CAUTION
Level A processed machines cannot be driven and shall be lifted when movement is
necessary. Deck loading of Level A processed machines requires additional
preparation. Contact Engineering Design Activity for supplemental requirements. For
example, all openings in closed cabs, vans, and other closed type bodies shall be
sealed with tape SA E-AMS-T-22085 Type IV (WP 0029, Item 32). Radiator grills
shall be covered with a plywood cover, and doors shall be secured to prevent
accidental opening. Tarping of the machine is also highly desirable. Failure to follow
this caution may result in damage to machine or component.
Deck Loading. Deck loading of Level A processed machines is not authorized without prior approval to
ensure additional protective measures have been taken and the risk properly assessed.

LEVEL B PREPARATION
NOTE
Equipment processed Level B is intended to provide protection for:
Up to 48 months of storage under controlled humidity conditions.
Outside storage for 90 days maximum without any exercising or maintenance.
All equipment to be operational, drive-on/drive-off, with minimal processing.
1. Fuel Tanks. Unless another volume of fuel is specified, ship each machine with a minimum 1/4 tank of
fuel in the fuel tank. For storage, a minimum of 1/2 full tank of fuel and a maximum of 3/4 full tank is
recommended. Machine shipment data shall include the quantity, proper shipping name, and
identification of hazardous materials aboard the machine.
2. Batteries, Cables, and Retainers.
a. Install fully operational batteries, cables, and retainers.
b. Unless otherwise specified, disconnect batteries for storage exceeding 30 days and secure cable
ends from contact with terminals using tiedown straps.

Place tag (WP 0029, Item 30) stating, "BATTERIES ARE DISCONNECTED" in the driver's
compartment and include quantity, proper shipping name, and identification of hazardous materials
aboard machine in shipment data.
3. BII. Unless otherwise specified, military preserve and pack Level A or B BII and stow aboard machine for
shipment. Stowage and securement methods shall be sufficient and safe for intended purpose.
a. Provide clearance for sling cables and lifting eyes during stowage and securement including blocking
and bracing and meet weight and clearance requirements of shipment mode.
b. Blocking and securement by banding shall prevent movement within machine.
