15. Air Intake System. Disconnect air tubes from turbocharger and between turbocharger and engine.
a. Atomize spray preservative oil (MIL-PRF-21260 (WP 0029, Item 18), MIL-PRF-46002 (WP 0029,
Item 24), or MIL-PRF-32033 (WP 0029, Item 19)) one ounce into air intake of turbocharger, one
ounce into outlet of turbocharger, and two ounces into air tube going to engine.
b. Reconnect all tubes and seal openings with tape SAE-AMS-T-22085, type IV (WP 0029, Item 32).
16. Air Cleaner. Clean and dry air cleaner and install new filter element. Seal air cleaner openings with tape
conforming to SAE-AMS-T-22085, type IV (WP 0029, Item 32), or cover with 6 mil of commercial grade
polyethylene, secured with tape conforming to SAE-AMS-T-22085, type IV (WP 0029, Item 32).
17. Hydraulic Brakes. Fill brake system with operational hydraulic fluid as specified in the applicable
drawing, specification.
18. Windshield Washers. Drain windshield washer container and lines of all fluid. Reinstall lines.
19. Water Pumping System.
a. Open drain valve at bottom radiator and completely drain system.
b. Close drain valve.
c.
Fill pump with preservative oil conforming to MIL-C-10382 (WP 0029, Item 7).
d. Operate pump, allowing preservative to drain through outlet nozzle and introduce sufficient amount of
preservative MIL-C-10382 (WP 0029, Item 7) to ensure complete coverage of areas within pumping
system from intake to outlet.
e. After completion of application of preservative, open radiator drain valve and completely drain
system, then close drain valve.
f.
Attach red warning tag bearing the following information: "BEFORE PLACING IN USE, FLUSH
SYSTEM WITH HOT WATER, MINIMUM 160F (71C), AND DRAIN TO MAXIMUM EXTENT", to
preserved water tank in a conspicuous location, and DA Form 2258 annotated.
20. Fuel Servicing System.
a. Open or remove all drains and drain plugs to permit maximum drainage.
b. Install drain plugs.
c.
Fill tank compartment with preservative oil MIL-PRF-21260, Type I, Grade PE-10-1 (WP 0029,
Item 18).
d. Pump preservative oil into all fuel compartments of the machine and all valves operated to their
maximum positions to provide the preservative contact with all surfaces.
e. Drain preservative from system as specified above.
f.
Recover drained oil and reuse for processing of other machines provided not more than 10 percent of
the fluid is fuel when tested.
g. Secure manifold and emergency trip valve in open position.
h. Install drain plugs.
