SECTION I TM 5-3805-255-34P (1) Source Cod. The source cod tells you how to get an item needed for maintenance, Repair, or over- haul of an  end  item/equipment.    Explanations  of  source  cods follows: Cod Application/Explanation PA Stocked items; us the applicable NSN to PB request/requisition  items  with  these  source PC** cods.    They  are  authorized  to  the  category PD Indicated by the code entered in the 3d PE position of the SMR cod. PF **  Items  coded  PC  are  subject  to PG deterioration. Items with these cods are not to b KD requested/requisitioned  individually.  They KF are part of a kit which Is authorized to the KB maintenance   category   indicated   in   the   3d position  of  the  SMR  cod.    The  complete  kit must b requisitioned and applied. MO-(Mad at UM/ Items with these cods are not to AVUM level) b requested/requisitioned MF-(Mad at DSI individually They must b mad AVUM Level) from bulk martial which    is MH-(Mad at GS identified  by  the  part  number  in Level) the DESCRIPTION AND USABLE ON CODE (UOC) column and ML-(Made at - listed in the Bulk Martial group specialized Repair of the Repair parts list in Activity (SRA)) this RPSTL If the Item is authorized MD-(Mad at to you by the 3d position  cod  of depot) the SMR cod, but the source cod indicates it is mad at a higher level, order the Item from the higher level of maintenance. Items with these codes are not to b requested/requisitioned AO-(Assembled by individually The parts that make UM/ AVUM up the assembled Item must b Level) requisitioned or fabricated and AF-(Assembled by assembled at the level of DS/AVIM maintenance indicted bythe Level) source cod If the 3d position AH-Assembled by cod of the SMR cod AH-(Assembled by authorizes you to replace the GS Category Item, but the source cod AL-(Assembled by indicates the Item is assembled SRA) at a higher level, order the Item AD-(Assembled by from   the   higher   level  of depot) maintenance. X4 - Do not requisition an "XA"-coded Item Order its  next  higher  assembly  (Also  refer  to  the NOTE following.) XB - If  an  "XB"  Item  is  not  available  from  salvage, order  it  using  the  FSCM  or  CAGE  and  parrot  number given. XC - Installation   drawing,      diagram,      instruction sheet, filled service drawing, that is identified by the manufacture’s part number. XD - Item  is  not  stocked.    Order  an  "XD"-coded Item  through  normal  supply  channels  using the FSCM or CAGE and part number given, if no NSN is available. NOTE:   Cannibalization   or   controlled   exchange,   whn authorized, may b used as a source of supply for items with  the  above  source  cods,  except  for  those  source coded  "XA'  or  those  aircraft  support  items  restricted  by requirements of ARE 700-42. (2)    Maintenance  Cod.  Maintenance  codes  tell  you the   level(s)   of   maintenance   authorized   to   USE   and REPAIR   support   items.      The   maintenance   cods   are entered in the third and fourth positions of the SMR cod as follows: (a) The  maintenance  code  entered in  the  third  position  tells  you  the  lowest  maintenance level authorized to remove, replace, and us an Item. The  maintenance  cod  entered  in  the  third  position  will indicate  authorization  to  on  of  the  following  levels  of maintenance. Cod Application/Explanation C - Crew  or  operator  maintenance  don  within unit maintenance or aviation unit maintenance. O - Unit  maintenance  or  aviation  unit  category can remove, replace, and us the Item. F - Direct support or aviation intimidate level can remove, replace, and us the Item. H - General  support  level  can  remove,  replace, and us the Item. L - Specialized    Repair    activity    can    remove, replace, and us the Item. D - Dpot level can remove,  replace,  and  us  the Item. (b) The maintenance cod entered in the fourth position tells whether or not the Item is to be repaid and identifies the lowest maintenance level with the capability to do complete Repair (i.., perform all authorized Repair functions).  (NOTE: Some limited Repair may b  don  on the Item at a low level of  maintenance,  if  authorized  by the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) and SMR cods.)
