TM 5-3805-258-10Steering System:Articulated frame steering system turns short,has long wheel base for loading stability.Hinge point is mid-waybetween front and rear axles, so rear wheels track the front.Tires:All tires are traction type (L-2), nylon, tubeless,20.5 x 25., and are rated at 12 ply.Tires are inflated to 50psi (345 kpa).Sufficient clearance is provided to mount the L-2type tires without removal of any components.Electrical System:The loader has a 24 volt electrical startingand lighting system with necessary fuses and circuit breakers.All control switches are located on the dash within reach of theoperator.The system has a negative ground circuit.Alternator:The loader is equipped with a Delco-Remy enginedriven alternator and compatible regulator self-contained.Thealternator is 24 volts with 50 amp rating.Instruments:The loader is equipped with waterproof gauges andswitches.The gauges are illuminated by rear lighting andidentified on the instrument panel.The following instrumentsare on the panel:1.Air pressure gauge - light (EMS system)2.Service meter gauge3.Engine oil pressure gauge - light (EMS system)4.Water temperature gauge - light (EMS system)5.Ammeter gauge - light (EMS system)6.Torque converter oil temperature gauge - light (EMS system)Battery:Two (2) 12 volt batteries are installed in series toprovide 24 volts for the starting system.Batteries are locatedin the rear bumper on each side of the machine.Service checkscan be performed easily and quickly from ground level.Oil Sampling Valves:An oil sampling valve will be supplied onthe engine and transmission for use in the Army Oil AnalysisProgram.Samples should be taken IAW TB 43-0210.Stenciledmarkings above the valves identify the locations of the valve andthe component from which oil is being sampled.1-5.OperationConcept.The 2 1/2 cubic yard Scoop Loader is tobe used by engineer construction units equipped with CommercialConstruction Equipment (CCE).This Scoop Loader will be used toexcavate and load consolidated earth, blast rockr loose ordecomposed rock, sand, aggregate and loose soil from stock pilesinto dump trucks, concrete mobile mixers, hoppers and aggregatebins.103
