TM 5-3805-258-10SAFETYMake sure that all clamps, guards andheat shields are installed correctly toprevent vibration or excessive heat duringoperation.Shields, which protect hot exhaustcomponents from oil or fuel spray in theevent of a line, tube or seal failure, mustbe installed correctly.Accumulated grease and oil on a vehicleis a fire hazard. Remove this debris withsteam cleaning or high pressure water atleast every 1000 service hours or anytime asignificant quantity of oil is spilled on thevehicle.Have jobsite fuel tanks protected by anembankment, or steel post, so tanks arenot struck by equipment when fueling.This is particularly important to helpprevent fires and engine and hydraulicsystem overheating.Clean and tighten all electricalconnections. Check daily for loose or frayedelectrical wires. Have ail loose or frayedelectrical wires tightened, repaired orreplaced before operating the vehicle.Inspect the driveline and the brakes dailyfor accumulated debris. Clean out all debris.Park the vehicle in a cleared area and asafe distance from other equipment.Inspect the engine compartment for anydebris. Clean out the engine compartment,the radiator and any accumulated debristhoroughly.12
