Fill radiator with water or chemical cooling system cleaner. Install
r a d i a t o r c a p .
Start and operate engine for 15 minutes.
Drain water from engine as described above under DRAINING COOLANT (page
4 - 6 9 ).
Fill radiator with a 50/50 solution of water and ethylene glycol
(antifreeze). Fill with coolant solution to two inches below level of
radiator cap opening.
I n s t a l l r a d i a t o r c a p.
Start and operate engine for 15 minutes. Check for coolant leaks at radi-
ator drain valve and cylinder block drain valve. Tighten drain valves as
n e c e s s a r y .
R e m o v e r a d i a t o r c a p s l o w l y t o r e l e a s e p r e s s u r e b e f o r e c o m p l e t e l y r e-
moving it when engine is hot. Failure to do so could cause severe burns
o r s c a l d i n g d u e t o l i v e s t e a m .
I f y o u a r e b u r n e d o r s c a l d e d o b t a in
medical aid immediately.
( 4 ) T u r n o f f e n g i n e , remove radiator cap, and check coolant level. Level
should be two inches below level of radiator cap opening. Add coolant as
n e c e s s a r y .
