Cab Lower Wiring Harness (cont).REPAIR (SHEET 1 OF 2)NOTECut, remove, and discard tie straps as necessary for access to wires infollowing steps. If necessary, carefully cut outer covering from wiringharness to expose wires. If defective wire is not accessible for repair..or if wiring harness is badly damaged, notify direct support maintenancet o replace wiring harness .(1)(2)(3)( 4)(5)Repair cut or defective wire by cutting length of same gage and colorwire. Strip 1/4 inch insulation from end of wires taking care not to cutthrough wires. Splice ends of new wire to ends of harness wire using in-s u l a t e d s p l i c e c o n n e c t o r s .Repair cracked or broken wire insulation by wrapping insulation tapearound damaged area of wire.Repair cut or frayed harness outer covering by wrapping insulation tapearound damaged area.Replace terminals by cutting wire as close to terminal as possible. Strip1/4 inch insulation from end of wire taking care not to cut through wirethen crimp new terminal securely onto wire.Repair cab lower wiring harness connector as follows:( a)Remove terminal from connector by prying tab using small screwdriverand pulling terminal from connector as shown. Cut wire as close toterminal as possible.(b)Strip 1/4 inch insulationfrom end of wire takingcare not to cut throughwire. Crimp new terminalsecurely onto wire.(c)Aline terminal with con-nector and push into con-n e c t o r u n t i l t e r m i n a l t abc l i c k s .5-188
