ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT - CONTINUED

ALTERNATOR REMOVAL
1.
Remove bolt (1), lockwasher (2), and washer (3) and disconnect cable (4) from alternator (5). Discard lockwasher.
2.
Pull connector (6) off of alternator (5) and disconnect cable (7) from alternator (5).
3.
Pull back cable boot from cable (8) and remove nut (9), lockwasher (10), washer (11), and disconnect cable from alter-
nator (5). Discard lockwasher.
4.
Remove bolt (12), washer (13), and bracket (14) from alternator (5).
5.
Remove bolt (15), washer (16), and nut (17) from alternator (5).
6.
Remove two V-belts (18) from alternator (5) (WP 0046 00).
7.
Remove alternator (5) from engine.
8.
If new alternator is to be installed, remove pulley. Refer to Pulley Removal in this work package.

ALTERNATOR INSTALLATION
1.
Position alternator (5) on machine and loosely install nut (17), washer (16), and bolt (15) on alternator.
2.
Loosely install bracket (14), washer (13), and bolt (12) on alternator (5).
3.
Connect cable (8) to alternator (5) and install washer (11), new lockwasher (10), nut (9), and cover with cable boot.
4.
Connect cable (7) to alternator (5). Ensure connector (6) is fully seated.
5.
Connect cable (4) and install washer (3), new lockwasher (2), and bolt (1) on alternator (5).
6.
Install and adjust V-belts (WP 0046 00).
7.
Connect battery cables to batteries (WP 0077 00).
8.
Run engine to verify correct operation of charging system (TM 5-3805-290-10).
