1. Prepare portable filter as follows:
a. Remove all hydraulic oil from inlet and outlet hoses of portable filter.
b. Remove filter element from portable filter.
c.
Remove all hydraulic oil from portable filter.
d. Clean inside of filter element housing.
e. Install new filter element in portable filter.
2. Determine whether contamination is microscopic or visible. See Types of Contamination in this work package.
3. If contamination is microscopic:
a. Check maintenance schedule for machine to learn whether or not hydraulic oil must be changed. If
b. Perform steps 6 through 36.
4. If contamination is visible:
b. Perform steps 5 through 36.
5. Check amount of contamination in hydraulic system as follows:
a. Disassemble one lift cylinder (WP 0086) and one tilt cylinder (WP 0087) in each circuit. Check for damage
to seals, scoring of cylinder walls, etc. Repair cylinders as necessary.
b. If damage to cylinders was caused by severe contamination and is not the result of normal wear, remove,
clean, and repair all valves, pumps, lines, cylinders, etc. in hydraulic system. To clean lines, refer to Clean-
ing Hoses, Tubes, and Fittings in this work package.
6. Remove cap from reservoir.
7. Connect vacuum pump to reservoir.
8. Start vacuum pump.
