USING ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN (ET)

ET is used to check for active diagnostic or event codes, logged diagnostic codes, and observe ECM inputs and
outputs.
Active Diagnostic Fault Codes, Active Event Codes, and Status Flags

NOTE
Active diagnostic fault and event codes cannot be cleared using ET. The fault or condition
setting the code must be repaired in order to clear the code.
1. To display active diagnostic fault codes, active event codes, or status flags, select the buttons (Figure 19, Item
1) at bottom of ET screen (Figure 19, Item 3).
a. Select Active Codes button (Figure 19, Item 6) to display the active diagnostic fault codes.
b. Select Active Events button (Figure 19, Item 5) to display active event codes.

Select Status Flags button (Figure 19, Item 4) to display important machine status conditions.
2. Record active diagnostic fault codes, or active event codes and refer to troubleshooting index (WP 0005) for a
complete list of diagnostic fault codes.
3. Active diagnostic fault codes and active event codes may also be retrieved using the active diagnostic codes
icon (Figure 19, Item 2) at top of ET screen (Figure 19, Item 3).
4. If no further MSD operation is required, exit ET and disconnect MSD as described under Disconnecting MSD in
this work package.
