Conditions Which Generate This
Restriction Event Code
Code:
This code is generated only when the
engine has been running for 3 minutes,
and restricted airflow has been
detected. This code will be reset when
the ignition switch is turned to the OFF
position.
System Response:
E0172-1: A warning will appear on
instrument panel; event code will be
logged if air filter restriction is detected
for 15 seconds.
E0172-2: A warning will appear on
instrument panel; event code will be
logged if air filter restriction is detected
for 30 seconds.
Possible Performance Effect:
Engine power will be derated.
Test Step 1. Check for Active
Diagnostic Codes.
1. Connect MSD (WP 0008) and
select Transmission 924H.
2. Start and run engine (TM 5-3805-
298-10) for at least 3 minutes.
3. Using MSD, check for active
Diagnostic Codes Are Not Active -
diagnostic codes (WP 0008).
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Diagnostic Codes Are Active - Refer
to (WP 0005) and repair active
diagnostic codes first.
