Test Step 2. Test for Faulty Solenoid
1406-5 Solenoid Valve 6
Valve 6 (First Gear).
(First Gear) Current Below
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
Normal - Continued
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
2. Remove right lower cab access
panels (WP 0347).
3. Remove right engine access panel
(WP 0348).
4. Disconnect connector P-C4
(WP 0012, Figure 98) from clutch
solenoid valve 6 (first gear).
5. Install a jumper wire between
terminal 1 and terminal 2 of
connector P-C4 (WP 0012,
Figure 98).
6. Turn battery disconnect switch and
ignition switch to ON position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
7. Turn transmission control lever to
1 and push to F (forward) position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
8. Using MSD, check for active
Diagnostic Code 1406-5 Solenoid
diagnostic codes (WP 0008).
Valve 6 (First Gear) Current Below
Normal Remains Active Proceed to
Test Step 3.
Diagnostic Code 1406-6 Solenoid
Valve 6 (First Gear) Current Above
Normal Becomes Active Replace
solenoid valve 6 (first gear) (WP 0310).
Proceed to Test Step 5.
Test Step 3. Test Wiring Harness for
High Resistance or Open.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
2. Remove left lower cab access
panels (WP 0347).
3. Remove transmission ECM cover
(WP 0266).
4. Disconnect connector C-C12
(WP 0012, Figure 26) from
Transmission ECM J1.
