MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION

Test Step 8. Verify Malfunction Is
Excessive Force Needed To
Resolved.
Turn Steering Wheel -
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
Continued
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
2. Ensure all hydraulic hoses are
connected.
3. Install main control valve cover
(WP 0371).
4. Perform Steering Force Check
Force to Turn Steering Wheel Is
(WP 0166).
13 to 32 lb-in. (1.46-3.61 Nm)
Proceed to step 5.
Force to Turn Steering Wheel Is
Greater Than 32 lb-in. (3.61 Nm)
Repeat troubleshooting from the
beginning.
5. Turn battery disconnect switch to
ON position and start engine
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
6. Warm the transmission oil to
normal operating temperature of
approximately 165F to 185F
(75C to 85C).
7. Perform Steering Force Check
Force to Turn Steering Wheel Is
(WP 0166).
13-17 lb-in. (1.46 1.92 Nm)
Troubleshooting complete.
Force to Turn Steering Wheel Is
Greater Than 17 lb-in. (1.92 Nm)
Repeat troubleshooting from the
beginning.
