WARNING
Air reservoir drain must be opined to relieve all air pressure on the air
system before performing following procedures. Failure to do so could
result in serious injury to surrounding personnel.
a. Located on back side of air compressor, disconnect clamp (6) from air inlet hose (7) see Figure 2.
Remove/replace manufacturers obsolete fitting (non-illustrated) from pipe elbow (8), then insert NSN
4730-01-247-1498, special elbow (5) into opening of pipe elbow (8). Tighten securely with end of special
elbow (5) facing upward toward air inlet hose (7). Insert NSN 473000-781-3689, elbow assembly (l-3)
into side of special elbow (5). Tighten securely with end of elbow assembly (l-3) facing downward. In-
stall air inlet hose (7) on special elbow (5). Connect clamp (6) on air inlet hose (7) and tighten securely.
b. Remove/discard rnanufacturer's inserted 1/8" pipe plug from rear center of air compressor's
governor. Obsolete threaded pipe plug to be removed from governor is located between the two rear
mounting bolts that fastens governor to air compressor. Insert NSN 4730-00-061-8455, connector assemb-
ly (9-11) into this opening and tighten securely.
c. Install alcohol evaporator (17) on right hood support and secure using three capscrews (16), lock-
washers (15) and nuts (14). Disconnect evaporator's jar for easier installation.
NOTE
Correct tube lengths for tube (4) and tube (12) must be tailored measured
and tailored cut for proper fit.
d. Identifying the uncut 36 inch tube NSN 4720-00-135-4424 as tube (12), connect and install tube (12)
to connector (11) in air compressor governor. Do this by sliding both nut (9) and compression fitting (10)
over tube (12), then insert tube (12) into opening of governor's connector (11) as far as it will go, then
draw complete connection together by securely tightening nut (9) to governor's connector (11). Route op-
posite end of tube (12) to upper connector (11) in check-valve (13) and cut tube to fit, but make sure it is
not longer than 15 inches. Complete the connection by sliding both nut (9) and compression fitting (10)
over tube (12), then insert tube (12) into opening of upper valve-check connector (11) as far as it will go,
then draw complete connection together by securely tightening nut (9) to upper valve-check connector
(11).
e. Identifying the remaining piece of tubing as tube (4), connect and install tube (4) to elbow assemb-
ly (l-3) inserted into special elbow (5). Do this by sliding both nut (1) and compression fitting (2) over
tube (4), then insert tube (4) into opening of elbow (3) as far as it will go, then draw complete connection
together by securely tightening nut (1) to elbow (3). Route opposite end of tube (4) to side connector (11)
in check-valve (13) and cut tube to fit comfortable (no kinks). Complete the connection by sliding both
nut (9) and compression fitting (10) over tube (4) as far as it will go, then draw complete connection
together by securely tightening nut (9) to side valve-check connector (11).
f. Close and tighten air reservoir drain valve (located above rear axle).
g. Fill plastic jar about 2/3 full with pure methanol alcohol 188 proof.
