REMOVAL

1. Remove cap from hydraulic tank (TM 5-2420-231-10).
2. Disconnect tube (Figure 1, Item 5) from boom cylinder (Figure 1, Item 12).
3. Remove clamp (Figure 1, Item 14) and resilient mount (Figure 1, Item 13) from boom cylinder
(Figure 1, Item 12).
NOTE
Note position of fitting to aid in installation.
4. Loosen nut (Figure 1, Item 7) and remove fitting (Figure 1, Item 6) and O-ring (Figure 1, Item 8) from boom cyl-
inder (Figure 1, Item 12). Discard O-ring.
5. Disconnect hose (Figure 1, Item 1) from boom cylinder (Figure 1, Item 12).
6. Loosen nut (Figure 1, Item 3) and remove fitting (Figure 1, Item 2) and O-ring (Figure 1, Item 4) from boom cyl-
inder (Figure 1, Item 12). Discard O-ring.
7. Attach slings and lifting device to boom cylinder.
8. Remove two retaining rings (Figure 1, Item 9), washers (Figure 1, Item 10), and pin (Figure 1, Item 11) from
boom cylinder (Figure 1, Item 12).
9. Remove two retaining rings (Figure 1, Item 16), washers (Figure 1, Item 17), and pin (Figure 1, Item 15) from
boom cylinder (Figure 1, Item 12).
WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support during
procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of suitable load
capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this
warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
NOTE
Boom cylinder weighs 220 lb (100 kg).
10. Using lifting device and with assistance, remove boom cylinder from machine and lower onto a flat surface.
11. Remove lifting device and slings from boom cylinder.
