INTRODUCTION
This Technical Manual Supplement has been written to
familiarize personnel with the preparation, sectionalization,
maintenance and parts information unique to the 950BS
and 950BSCE (Type II) Wheel Loaders.
The 950B Loader is provided in two configurations. Both
types are transportable on highway, rail, and in the air by
C130, C141 and C5 aircraft. Both types can be driven
on/driven off USAF aircraft, and can be airdropped from
C130 and C141 aircraft. The loaders can also be air deliv-
ered from C130 aircraft using the low altitude parachute
extraction (LAPES) technique. The Type II loader can be
externally air transported by CH47 helicopter. It is neces-
sary to remove or fold down some components to reduce
the overall height and weight for air transport.
the maximum permissible lifting weight of a helicopter.
The two sections are: front frame (from bucket front to
the articulation hitch) and the rear frame (from the articu-
lation hitch to the machine rear).
When the Type II is ready for slinging, the front section is
immobile but the rear section is mobile with suitable
controls to permit driving and maneuvering the rear section
to the front section or to a convenient slinging location.
The procedures for sectionalizing the machine are con-
tained in this supplement.
Refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3 for general dimension and stor-
age location drawings.
For helicopter lift of the Type II, the machine is also
separated into two sections, each section weighing less than
