TM 5-3805-262-20INSPECTION AND REPAIR(1)( 2)( 3)( 4 )( 5 )Inspect terminal (5 and 6) wires for cracked or broken insulation orbroken wire strands at connection to terminal. Repair cracked or brokeninsulation by applying insulation tape to area. If broken wire strandsare seen, cut wire as close to terminal as possible .Strip 1/4 inch insu-lation from end of wire taking care not to cut through wire then crimpnew terminal securely onto wire.Inspect housing (9) for cracks, breaks, damaged threads, distortion, orother damage. Inspect socket assembly (11) for broken sockets, corrosion,defective or missing rubber isolators, and cracks or breaks. Replaceblackout stop and tail light as an assembly if any of the above condi-t i o n s a r e s e e n.Inspect lamps (4) for cracked or broken glass or corroded base. Connectmultimeter between lamp base and center contact and check for continuity.Replace lamp if any of the above conditions are seen or multimeter doesn o t i n d i c a t e c o n t i n u i t y.Inspect gasket (3) for cracks, breaks, and deterioration. Replace if anyof the above conditions are seen.Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, distortion, or damagedthreads; replace as necessary.INSTALLATION(1)(2)( 3)( 4)(5)(6)( 7 )( 8)If removed,install screws (1) on lens assembly (2) using retaining rings( 1 2 ).Install socket assemblyPosition housing (9) byr a d i a t o r g u a r d.Install and tighten two(11) in housing (9) using three screws (10).routing terminal (5) end of wires through hole incapscrews (7) and lock washers (8).Connect light terminal (5) tagged 23 to wiring harness pink-white wireterminal (6) by grasping both in your fingers, alining, and firmly push-ing them together. Then connect light terminal (5) tagged 24 to wiringharness yellow wire terminal (6) .Install lamps (4) by alining lamp base with socket, pushing lamp in, andturning 1/4 turn clockwise.Install lens assembly (2) with gasket (3) on housing (9).
