Remove three bolts (16), washers (17), disconnect wire (18), and remove starter (13) and spacer (19) from machine.

N OT E
Place an index mark on ring for installation purposes.
INSPECTION
1.
Check for obvious signs of physical damage.
2.
Check for blocked engagement of starting motor pinion gear and flywheel ring gear.
INSTALLATION
N OT E
Ensure ring is installed according to index mark made during removal process.
1.
Install spacer (19), starter (13), connect wire (18), and install three washers (17) and bolts (16) on machine.
2.
Connect wire (15) and install screw (14) on starter (13).
3.
Connect three cables (12) and install new lockwasher (11) and nuts (9 and 10) on starter. Tighten nut (9) to 18 to 24 lb-ft
(24 to 32 Nm) and nut (10) to 9 to 12 lb-in. (1 to 1.3 Nm).
4.
Place boot (8) back over cable (12) ends.
5.
Position clamp (7) on bracket (6) and install washer (5) and bolt (4) in bracket.
