Fuel Supply System Check
0007
C AU T I O N
If fuel injection pump has been replaced, complete test procedure immediately following
fuel injection pump replacement. Failure to test system may result in continued fuel
injection pump failure.
1. Testing Specifications and Tips
a. Vacuum between inlet of fuel pump and tank should not exceed 2 inHg (50.8 mmHg).
b. Fuel supply pressures between fuel filter and inlet to injection pump should be 4 to 10 psi (0.276 to
0.689 bar) with engine loaded or unloaded.
c.
Run multiple tests while observing fuel pressure and looking for air in fuel.
d. Perform a "wiggle test" on each fuel line. A steady stream of bubbles or foam should not be seen moving
through fuel system. Very small, random bubbles are allowable.
WARN I N G
DO NOT perform fuel system maintenance while near heat, flames, or sparks. Fuel may
ignite, causing injury or death to personnel or damage to equipment.
Operating personnel must wear fuel-resistantgloves when handling fuels. If exposed to
fuel, promptly wash exposed skin and change fuel-soaked clothing.
Failure to follow these warnings ma result in injury to personnel.

C AU T I O N
Wipe area clean around all connections to be opened during removal and disassembly.
Cap line and plug openings after removing lines. Contamination of fuel system may result
in premature failure.
N OT E
Use container to catch any fuel that may drain from system. Dispose of fuel IAW local
policy and ordinances. Ensure all spills are cleaned up.
Tag hoses prior to removal to ensure correct installation.
The fuel pressure tester has a piece of cleartubing to allow observation of air in system.
