Mechanical System is Not
Always inspect wiring harness connectors that are involved in the circuit.
Responding Properly
Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical
circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean and secure and
that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with the
connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this malfunction
or diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.
Perform open or short-circuit test at each wiring harness connection to
identify the correct wiring harness to replace.
Tag all wiring harnesses to aid in installation.
Perform this test only if condition is active.
DIAGNOSTIC CODE SET CONDITION
Engine ECM detects data from fuel injector 3 fuel delivery is incorrect.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Fuel injector 3 is no longer capable of delivering the correct amount of fuel.
Test Step 1. Confirm Correct Fuel
Injector Trim File.
1. Check that correct trim file is
Trim File Is Correct for Fuel Injector
installed on engine ECM
3 - Proceed to step 2.
Trim File Is Not Correct for Fuel
Injector 3 - Install correct trim file on
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Perform Fuel System Verification
Fuel Injector 3 Indicates Success on
Test (WP 0163) on fuel injector 3.
MSD - Proceed to Test Step 2.
Fuel Injector 3 Indicates Fail on
MSD - Replace fuel injector 3
(WP 0198).
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Test Step 2. Verify Malfunction Is
Resolved.
1. Ensure valve cover (WP 0187) is
installed on engine.
2. Start engine or attempt to start
engine (TM 5-3805-298-10).
3. At MSD, check for active
Diagnostic Code 3-7 Is Not Active -
Troubleshooting complete.
Diagnostic Code 3-7 Remains Active
- Repeat troubleshooting from the
beginning.
