ENGINE OIL PRESSURE TEST CONTINUED
8. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position, start the engine (TM 5-2420-231-10), and allow engine
to reach normal operating temperature (TM 5-3805-298-10).
9. Have an assistant operate engine at idle (TM 5-3805-298-10). Monitor and record engine oil pressure. Oil
pressure should be at least 37 psi (255 kPa).
10. Have an assistant operate engine at 2,400 rpm and hold (TM 5-3805-298-10). Monitor and record engine oil
pressure. Oil pressure should be at least 45 psi (310 kPa).
11. Release accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch and battery disconnect switch to the OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
WARNING
Allow engine to cool before performing procedure. Hot engine can cause severe burns.
Wear eye, hand, and skin protection when working with heated parts.
Engine oil is very slippery. Immediately wipe up any spills. Failure to follow this warning
may result in injury or death to personnel.
12. Disconnect 177-7861 hose (Figure 4, Item 2) from adapter (Figure 4, Item 4) and gage (Figure 4, Item 1).
13. Disconnect oil pressure hose (Figure 4, Item 3) from adapter (Figure 4, Item 4).
