HIGH LEAK-OFF OF FUEL INJECTORS TEST CONTINUED
NOTE
If engine will not start, disconnect fuel injector harness connectors (WP 0294) at valve
cover in order to prevent engine from inadvertently starting.
Do not crank engine for more than 30 seconds. Wait at least 3 minutes before cranking
engine to allow starter motor to cool.
4. Attempt to start engine (TM 5-3805-298-10).
a. If engine cranks but does not run, proceed to step 5.
b. If engine starts and runs, proceed to step 6.
5. Crank the engine for 30 seconds (TM 5-3805-298-10). Monitor and record amount of fuel that has been
collected in container from leak-off connector. Perform test three times. Calculate average of three values.
a. If the fuel samples collected average less than 1.3 oz. (38 mL), fuel injection leak-off is OK. Proceed to
step 7.
b. If the fuel samples collected average more than 1.3 oz. (38 mL), a high fuel injector leak-off condition
exists. Replace all fuel injectors (WP 0199). Proceed to step 7.
6. Run engine for 1 minute. Monitor and record amount of fuel that has been collected in container from leak-off
connector.
a. If the fuel sample collected is less than 8.12 oz. (240 mL), fuel injector leak-off is OK. Proceed to step 7.
b. If the fuel sample collected is more than 8.12 oz. (240 mL), a high injector leak-off condition exists.
Replace all fuel injectors (WP 0199). Proceed to step 7.
7. Turn the ignition switch and battery disconnect switch to the OFF position (TM 5-3805-298-10).
8. Remove fuel hose (Figure 15, Item 6) from fuel leak-off connector (Figure 15, Item 5).
9. Remove fuel leak-off connector (Figure 15, Item 5), sealing washer (Figure 15, Item 4), secondary fuel tube
(Figure 15, Item 3), and sealing washer (Figure 15, Item 2) from fuel injector pump (Figure 15, Item 1). Discard
washers.
