OIL PRESSURE CHECK CONTINUED
3. Connect fitting (Figure 3, Item 3), elbow (Figure 3, Item 4), adapter (Figure 3, Item 5), hose (Figure 3, Item 6),
adapter (Figure 3, Item 7), and oil pressure gauge (Figure 3, Item 2) to engine (Figure 3, Item 1).

4. Start engine (TM 5-2420-231-10).
5. Allow engine to reach operational temperature (TM 5-2420-231-10).
6. Operate engine at idle (TM 5-2420-231-10) and monitor and record oil pressure. Oil pressure should be at
least 17 psi (1.2 bar).
7. Operate engine at 2,000 rpm and hold (TM 5-2420-231-10). Monitor and record oil pressure. Oil pressure
should be at least 55 psi (3.8 bar).
8. Stop engine (TM 5-2420-231-10).
WARNING
Allow engine to cool before performing procedure. Hot engine can cause severe burns.
Wear eye, hand, and skin protection when working with heated parts.
Engine oil is very slippery. Immediately wipe up any spills.
Failure to follow this warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
9. Remove oil pressure gauge (Figure 4, Item 2) and fittings from engine (Figure 4, Item 1).
