Remove bolts (2) and make a separation of thetube from oil pump (3).CAUTIONThe larger gear is not fastened to the pump.3. Remove bolts (4), the locks and oil pump (3)from the engine block.INSTALL OIL PUMP1304-121.2.3.4.5.6.Turn the crankshaft until the No. 1 piston is atthe top center compression position. See IN-STALL FUEL INJECTION PUMP HOUS-ING AND GOVERNOR.Turn both balancer shafts until the flat part oneach shaft is away from the oil pan plate. Installtwo 3/8”-16 NC bolts (1) 1½” long throughthe oil pan plate and into the holes in the ba-lancer shafts. This will make the shafts so theywill not turn. Do not tighten the bolts againstthe bottom of the holes in the shafts.Put the oil pump (2) in position on the engineblock and install the locks (left side only) andbolts that hold the oil pump in place.Remove bolts (1). Check to see that the ba-lancer shaft timing is correct. The balancershaft timing is correct when the holes in thebalancer shafts are in alignment with the holesin the oil pan plate, and No. 1 piston is at the topcenter compression position.Connect tube assembly (4) to the oil pump.Install suction bell (3) and the gasket to the oilpump.end by:a) install oil pan5-64
