Install plate (9) without shims on the spindle.Install three of the bolts that hold it so there areeven spaces between the bolts. Turn wheel as-sembly slowly by hand, and tighten the bolts toa torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (75 ± 11 lb.ft.).Loosen the bolts until the plate is free. Tightenthe bolts again to a torque of 25 ± 7 N·m (20± 5 lb.ft.).12. Use a depth micrometer (10) and measurethrough the three small holes in the plate. Findthe average depth.13.14.15.Find the difference between the two averagemeasurements in Steps 10 and 12. The differ-ence is the gap between the end of the spindleand the plate.Remove the plate from the spindle. Install anamount of shims (11), the same thickness as theaverage gap found in Step 13 plus 0.13 mm(.005 in.).Install plate (9) and all of the bolts.
