TM 5-3805-258-24-2VEHICLE SYSTEMSDISASSEMBLE AIR DRYER1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.Remove two nuts (1) and washer (2) fromthe air dryer.Pull cap (3) off with a twisting upwardmotion. Remove cover seal (4).Unscrew center shaft (5). Shaft (5) is springloaded and will release as the shaft isunthreaded.Remove shaft (5) and two sealing washers (6)from purge plate (7).Lift purge plate (7) and spring (8) off ofdesiccant canister (9).Remove sealing rings (10) and (11) frompurge plate (7).Remove desiccant canister (9), It may benecessary to loosencanister (9) with ascrewdriver by prying upward (screwdriverinserted in canister prying groove).Remove canister sealing ring (12).With desiccant canister (9) upright, removetube retaining ring (13) with a-screwdriver.WARNINGIf NBC exposure is suspected, all air filter mediashould be handied by personnel wearing pro-tective equipment. Consult your unit NBC Offi-cer or NBC NCO for appropriate handling or dis-posal instructions.10. Remove filter screen (14) and cloth filterpad (15).NOTE: Filter pad is attached to filter screen.11.12.13.Tip the canister (9) over and pour out thedesiccant (16).Invert canister (6) and remove retaining ring(17) which holds the deflector plate (18).Remove oil separator pad (19).DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY14. Remove retaining ring (20) and remove lowerfilter pad (21 ), retainer screen (22), and tube(23),15. Unscrew port plug (24) from dryer body(25).16. Unscrew tube (26) and then unscrew springseat (27).5-430b
