2. SLOW OR HARD STEERING (Cont).
Step 5.
Open air reservoir drain valve and drain air.
Loosen and disconnect
hose fitting from elbow
i n s t a l l e d i n p r e s s u r e
p r o t e c t i o n v a l v e .
Connect an air pressure
regulator to shop com-
pressed air system.
Connect air hose between
a i r p r e s s u r e r e g u l a t or
outlet and elbow in-
s t a l l e d i n p r e s s u r e p r o -
tection valve. Elbow is
9/16 - 18.
Loosen air horn valve
t u b e f i t t i n g c o n n e c t i on
a t t e e .
Adjust air pressure regu-
l a t o r t o 8 5 p s i .
Check if air flows from
pressure protection valve
o u t l e t a t l o o s e n e d a i r
h o r n v a l v e t u b e f i t t i n g.
a. If air flows from loosened tube fitting, hold cap and loosen
n u t .
Turn cap clockwise until air stops flowing then turn cap coun-
terclockwise until air just starts flowing from loosened tube
f i t t i n g .
Hold cap to prevent it from moving and tighten nut against cap.
Check and be sure air is still flowing from loosened tube fit-
t i n g .
Tighten loosened tube fitting at tee .
Disconnect shop compressed air system hose from elbow installed
in pressure protection valve.
Reconnect and tighten hose fitting to elbow installed in pres -
s u r e p r o t e c t i o n v a l v e.
Close air reservoir drain valve.
Go to step 6 below.
