INSPECTION AND REPAIR
(1)
Inspect wire (12) and cables (3, 6 thru 8, and 11) for cracked or broken
insulation or broken wire strands at connection to terminals. Repair
cracked or broken insulation by applying insulation tape to area. If
broken wire strands are seen, replace wire.

s t a r t e r d r i v e f o r c r a c k e d , c h i p p e d , o r m i s s i n g t e e t h . S l i d e s t a r t e r d r i ve
on shaft and rotate armature to check for binding. Replace starter if any
of the above conditions are seen. Forward defective starter to direct
support maintenance for repair.
(3)
Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, deformation, distortion, or
stripped threads; replace as necessary.
