Tighten capscrew to 80 to 96 lb-ft.( b ) R o u t e w i r e ( 1 2 ) t o s t a r t e r .( c ) A t b a t t e r y a n d s o l e n o i d c a b l e s n e a r s t a r t e r , i n s t a l l t h r e e n e w t iestraps (23) at locations noted during removal.( 2 ) I n s t a l l c a b l e ( 3 o r 6 ) , i f r e m o v e d , a s f o l l o w s:( a ) A t r e l a y a n d c i r c u i t b r e a k e r b r a c k e t , l o c a t e s t a r t e r r e l a y ( t h e 4 - t e r m i -nal relay). At two large terminals, connect cables (3 and 6); theninstall two nuts (20) and tighten to 35 lb-in.(b) Route cables (3 and 6) to starter solenoid.( c ) A t s o l e n o i d c a b l e s n e a r s t a r t e r , i n s t a l l t h r e e n e w t i e s t r a p s ( 1 9 ) atlocations noted during removal.( d ) I n s t a l l e n g i n e l e f t r e a r s i d e p a n e l ( p a g e 9 - 1 7 ).(3) Position starter (17) with gasket (18) on engine flywheel housing.NOTEIn following step, install the long capscrew (13) at location noted dur-ing removal.(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)5-22Install and tighten three capscrews (13 and 14), lock washers (15), andwashers (16).Connect wire (12) and cable (11) to starter ground terminal.A t s t a r t e r g r o u n d t e r m i n a l , i n s t a l l l o c knut to 20 to 25 lb - ft.Connect cables (6, 7, and 8) to solenoidwasher (10) and nut (9). TightenBAT terminal.Install lock washer (5) and nut (4). Tighten nut to 20 to 25 lb-ft.
