Remove solenoid from starter (page 3-224).Using Sun ElectricVAT-33 Starting andCharging System Testeror equivalent, set uptest circuit as shown.Set VAT-33 AMP. RANGEselector to the 0-20ampere range.Set VOLT RANGE selectorto 18-40 volt range.Set VOLT LEAD SELECT toEXT. position.Set LOAD control to OFFposition.Perform remainder of test quicklyto avoid overheating tester. Allow60 seconds between tests to permittester to cool.Push in and hold buttonon remote starterswitch.Turn LOAD control untilvoltmeter indicates 20volts.Record ammeter indication.Turn LOAD control to OFF position.Release button on remote starter switch.Ammeter must indicate 6 to 7 amperes.a. If ammeter indication is not within 6 to 7 ampere range, replacesolenoid (page 3-246).b. If ammeter indication is within 6 to 7 ampere range, go to step2 below.2-77
