Using Sun ElectricVAT-33 Starting andCharging System Testeror equivalent, set uptest circuit as shown.Set VAT-33 AMP. RANGEselector to 0-20 ampererange.Set VOLT RANGE selectorto 0-18 volt range.Set VOLT LEAD SELECT toINT. position.Set LOAD control to OFFposition.Perform remainder of test quicklyto avoid overheating tester. Allow60 seconds between tests to permittester to cool.Push in and hold button on remote starter switch.Turn LOAD control until voltmeter indicates 5 volts.Record ammeter indication.Turn LOAD control to OFF position.Release button on remote starter switch.Ammeter must indicate 10 to 11.5 amperes.a. If ammeter indication is not within 10 to 11.5 ampere range,replace solenoid (page 3-246).b. If ammeter indication is within 10 to 11.5 ampere range, sole-noid checks okay. GO to step 3 below to test starter.Step 3. Using Sun Electric VAT-33 Starting and Charging System Tester orequivalent, set up test circuit as shown.Set VAT-33 AMP. RANGE selector to the 0-100 ampere range.Set VOLT RANGE selector to 18-40 volt range.Move VOLT LEAD SELECT to EXT. position.Move LOAD control to OFF position.2-78
