TransmissionTorqueConverterGroup (Cont).INSTALLATION (SHEET 1 OF 2)(1)If plug (14) was removed, coat outer diameter of new plug with non-hard-ening sealant. Drive plug into converter housing flat side first untilseated against shoulder in bore.(2)Install seal (11) in groove of converter ground sleeve. If necessary, useoil-soluble grease to retain seal in groove.Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and donut breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water.If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(3) Clean area of converter housing from which diaphragm (13) was removed us-ing clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using cleancloths.(4) Apply non-hardening sealant to outer diameter of new diaphragm assembly(13). Install diaphragm assembly, convex side first and marking “ASSEMBLEDOWN” towards bottom of converter housing. Using two soft hammers, onedriving against the other or against a block of wood, drive diaphragmassembly evenly into converter housing until diaphragm stops moving.4-108
