b. Torque Converter Housing (Cont).
REMOVAL (SHEET 3 OF 3)
When using chain hoist to remove or install parts, be sure chain hoist
is securely fastened to the part and that all slack in chain is taken
up. Failure to do so could cause serious injury due to the part falling
on you. If you are injured by falling equipment, obtain medical aid
immediately.

Remove torque converter housing
(20) and assembled parts (5
through 19) from transmission
housing.
Remove drive gear and shaft
assembly (23) and assembled parts
(21 and 22) from transmission
housing.
Using two pry bars as shown, re-
move drive gear and shaft assem-
bly (29) and assembled parts (24
thru 28) from transmission hous-
ing.
(7) Remove and discard gasket (30).
DISASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 3)

Remove retaining ring (7) from driven gear (5) using retaining ring
pliers.

Using soft hammer, tap shaft of driven gear (5) to push bearing (8) from
torque converter housing (20). Remove driven gear (5) and bearings (6 and

Press driven gear from bearing (6).
