b. Torque Converter Housing (Cont).

Attach chain hoist to torque
converter housing (20). Take up
all slack in chain hoist. Apply
slight upward pressure to
torque converter housing (20).
Use screwdriver or pry bar to
move torque converter housing
off dowel pins (15).
Make sure drive gear and shaft (23) and freewheel unit are not removed
with torque converter housing (20). Drive gear and shaft and freewheel
unit could fall unexpectedly, crushing your foot or finger. If you are
injured by falling parts, get medical aid immediately.
Make sure freewheel unit is not removed with the torque converter
housing (20).
If freewheel unit is removed with torque converter
housing, oil suction tube could be damaged.
(3) Raise torque converter housing
(20) about 1-1/2 inches above
transmission housing. Use a pry
bar to check if freewheel unit
is tight in torque converter
housing. If necessary, use two
long screwdrivers or pry bars
to pry freewheel unit from
torque converter housing.
