TorqueConverterHousing (Cont).INSTALLATION (SHEET 2 OF 2)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)Slowly lower torquepast drive gear andconverter housing (20) guiding driven gear (5) shaftshaft (23).Continue lowering torque converter housing (20) while guiding dowel pinsin housing into alinement with holes in transmission housing until torqueconverter housing is resting on transmission housing.Disconnect chain hoist from torque converter housing (20).Start eight washers (4), lock washers (3), and capscrews (1) into trans-mission housing. Install capscrews on each side of dowel pins and evenlyon each side of housing. Tighten capscrews evenly to pull torque convert-er housing against transmission housing.Install remaining washers (4), lock washers (3), capscrew (2), and cap-screws (1). Tighten every other capscrew (1 and 2) to 42 to 50 lb-ftuntil all capscrews are tight.Install torque converter group (page 4-108).4-132
