If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Useonly with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause seriousinjury to eyes and possible blindness. If you hurt your eyes or if aforeign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attentionimmediately.(1)(2)(a)Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using compressed air.Check carrier and hub (15) andassociated parts (11 thru 14) byrotating pinion gears (13). Piniongears must rotate smoothly. Inspectteeth of pinion gears for cracks,breaks, or wear. Check gear splinesfor cracks, breaks, or wear. If anypinion gears are damaged or don’trotate smoothly, replace as follows:Make special tool shown. This toolis used to stake pinion spindles(11) after new pinion spindles areinstalled. If you cannot make thisspecial tool, replace carrier andhub (15) and associated parts (11thru 14) as a complete assembly.Do not drill into carrier and hub (15). The diameter of pinion spindles(11) is slightly more than 3/4 inch. Center drill accurately to-preventdrilling into and damaging carrier and hub.4-166
