TM 5-3805-262-34INSTALLATION(1)If removed,install new ringgear on flywheel as follows:Do not use torch to heatring gear. Damage to ringgear may result from use oftorch.(a) Heat ring gear to 400 to450 degrees F using oven orhot oil.Wear heat resistant gloveswhen handling heated partsto prevent burning yourhands .(b) Install heated ring gear,(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)chamfer side of teeth out-ward, on flywheel. Allowring gear to cool beforeproceeding.Install lifting bracket on flywheel using 3/8-24 capscrew, and positionflywheel assembly on engine crankshaft using chain hoist.Install six washers and capscrews to secure flywheel assembly to enginecrankshaft. Tighten capscrews to 230 to 250 lb-ft.Install flywheel housing (page 3-56).Install starter and make starter test circuit connections (refer to TM5-3805-262-20).Crank starter and watch starter gear and flywheel ring gear for propermesh. Replace or repair starter or flywheel as necessary to obtain propermesh before proceeding.Install engine in loader (page 3-30).3-59
