RockerArmAssembly(Cont).REMOVAL (SHEET 3 OF 4)(11) Remove two nuts (16), studs(17), and four washers (18)from each cylinder head.(12) Lift rocker arm assem-blies (21 thru 37) fromcylinder heads.(13) Remove push rods (19) andstraps (20).(14) Remove studs (38) from cylinderheads only if inspection indi-cates need for replacement.(15) If necessary to raise valve lifters from camshaft lobes:(a) Cut 12 pieces of light wire about 18 inches long.one end of each wire.Form a small hook on(b) Insert hook end of wire into push rod bore and engage one hole in valvelifter with wire hook.(c) Raise valve lifter by pulling wire until valve lifter head contacts cyl-inder block.3-62
