i. Rocker Arm Assembly (Cont).
CLEANING
Carbon removing compound is extremely toxic and caustic. Wear protective
goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact
with skin, eyes, and clothes and dont breathe vapors. Failure to do so
could cause serious injury. If you become dizzy while using carbon
removing compound, get fresh air and medical attention immediately. If
contact with skin or clothes is made, remove clothing and wash affected
skin area with large amounts of water. If eye contact is made, flush
thoroughly with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and get
medical aid immediately.
(1) Remove carbon and varnish deposits from rocker arm shafts (37) and rocker
arms (23, 27, and 33) using carbon removing compound.
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and donut breathe
vapors . Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and dont smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use
only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment
(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause serious
injury to eyes and possible blindness.
If you hurt your eyes or if a
foreign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attention
immediately.
(2) Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Clear oil tubes (31) and
oil holes in rocker arm shafts (37), rocker arms (23, 27, and 33) and
brackets (26 and 36) using compressed air. Dry using clean cloths.
