TM 5-3805-262-34IHSTALLATION (SHEET 2 OF 2)(7) With spring (3) compressed, install two valve locks (1) in upper valvestem groove.(8) Remove valve spring compressor and tap valve stem using soft hammer toseat valve locks (l).(9) Repeat steps (2) through (8) above to install other intake valve assem-blies.(10) Install one exhaust valve (6) in cylinder head.(11) Position spring seat (4) on cylinder head, flat side down.(12) Install spring (3) with either end toward cylinder head.(13) Install valve retainer (2) on spring (3), flat side up.(14) Using valve spring compressor, compress spring (3) and install new valvestem seal (5) in lower valve stem groove.(15) With spring (3) compressed, install two valve locks (1) in upper valvestem groove.(16) Remove valve spring compressor and tap valve stem using soft hammer toseat valve locks (l).(17) Repeat steps (10) through (16) above to install other exhaust valve as-semblies.(18) Install cylinder heads (page 3-48).(19) Install rocker arm assemblies and push rods (page 3-71).(20) Install valve cover and square tube (page 3-72).(21) Install fuel injectors (page 3-113).(22) Install intake manifold (page 3-106) .(23) Install water manifold and exhaust manifold (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).(24) Install engine hoods and panels (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).3-87
