TM 5-3805-262-34REMOVAL(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)CLEANINGDryPosition five gallon container under drain plug (1).Remove drain plug (1) and gasket (2), and allow all oil to drain.Discard gasket (2) and dispose of used oil properly.Remove six capscrews (3) and mounting strap (4) from oil pan.Support oil pan (6) and remove 28 capscrews (5).Remove oil pan (6) and gasket (7). Discard gasket.Remove plug (8) from oil pan only if necessary for replacement.cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(1)Scrape all gasket material from oil pan and engine block mating surfacesusing putty knife. Then remove residue using cleaning solvent P-D-680 andclean cloths.(2) Clean all other parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using cleancloths.INSPECTION/REPAIR(1) Inspect oil pan (6) for cracks, dents, exterior rust, or other damage.Straighten minor dents using hammer and wood block. Remove exterior rustusing abrasive cloth. Cover openings and paint exterior of repaired area.Replace oil pan if cracked, threads damaged, flanges warped or deformed,or leaking.(2)Inspect all other parts for cracks, distortion, or thread damage.
