Reach  through  plug  (11)  holes in field frame and remove two screws  (13)  securing  field leads to plate assembly. Remove  four  capscrews  (14)  and lock washers (15). Carefully  pull  frame  assem- bly (21) with plate assembly (20) from field frame and armature  (27). NOTE Perform step m below only if inspection indicates need for replacement; otherwise go to step n below. Disassemble  plate  and  frame  assembly  (16  thru  26): (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) Remove  four  screws  (16)  and  brushes  (17) from  plate  assembly  (20). Remove four springs (18) from plate assem- bly (20) only if spring replacement is ne- cessary.  Discard  springs  (18). Remove  three  screws  (19)  and  separate  plate assembly  (20)  from  frame  assembly  (21). Press  bushing  (22)  from  frame  assembly  (21) using  vise  or  hydraulic  press  and  appropri- ate sleeve. Remove  thrust  washer  (23)  from  armature (27)  shaft. Remove  and  discard  O-ring  (24). Punch a hole in plug (25) and pry from frame  assembly  (21).  Discard  plug  (25).
