TM 5-3805-262-34 3-9. FRONT AND REAR AXLES MAINTENANCE (CONT) f. Rear Axle Planetary Assemblies (Cont). REMOVAL (SHEET 2 OF 2) (7) Remove thrust washer (5). (8) Remove ring gear (6). (9) Connect chain hoist equipped with nylon straps to wheel hub (31). (10) Remove two socket head screws (7) securing Lock plate (8) to ring gear hub (10). Remove lock plate. (11) Remove wheel bearing nut (9) using wheel bearing nut tool. (12) Remove ring gear hub (10). (13) Using chain hoist, remove wheel hub (31) and associated parts (22 thru 30) from rear axle. (14) (15) If necessary, remove seven nuts (32), washers (33), and cap- screws (34). Remove caliper adapter (35). If necessary, support wheel spindle (39) and remove 21 nuts (36), washers (37), and cap- screws (38). Remove wheel spin- dle. NOTE Repeat steps (1) through (15) above to remove remaining rear axle planetary assembly. 3-396
