CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and dont breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don-t smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.

Clean all metal parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean
cloths.
NOTE
Replace an item if inspection indicates need for replacement.
Inspect spring (3) for cracks, breaks, distortion, or signs of permanent
set.
Inspect mounting plate (4) and cylinder (6) for cracks, dents, or other
damage. Check inside of cylinder for rust or scoring. If necessary, use
scratch wire brush or steel wool to remove rust. If damage or rust is
severe, replace cylinder.
Inspect piston (5) for cracks, bent condition, thread damage, or damaged
O-ring grooves. Remove rust from piston rod using scratch wire brush.
Then, apply rust inhibitor to piston rod.
Inspect all other parts for cracks, distortion, or thread damage.
