HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
0003
1. LIFT CYLINDERS (Figure 5, Item 2) are used to raise or lower the loader arms for loading operations.
2. TILT CYLINDERS (Figure 5, Item 1) are used to roll back the work tool.
3. HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR (Figure 5, Item 3) contains the hydraulic oil used by the hydraulic system.

STEERING SYSTEM
0003
1. ISO PATTERN PILOT TRAVEL CONTROL SYSTEM. The M400T and M400W utilize a pilot-controlled travel
system. This tandem hydrostatic pump output is controlled by hydraulic pressure from an operator-controlled
joystick valve. Hydraulic pressure is applied directly to the ends of the pump servo stroking piston. This control
system is not a positive displacement control. The travel speed will vary depending on engine speed, the hand
control movement, the pressure available to the hand control from the anti-stall cartridge, and the travel
pressure.
N OT E
While the pump displacement is infinitely variable between 0% and 100%, a given
swashplate position can be affected by drive system pressure, control pressure to the
control lever valve from the anti-stall cartridge, control lever position, and pump drive
speed, as well as the piston centering springs.
Flow direction is determined by which cylinder control port is pressurized. Steering is caused by an opposing
pressure to the servo piston causing the servo piston to return towards neutral. The slower travel side causes
the machine to steer in that direction.
