MAINTENANCE SUPPORT DEVICE (MSD) SETUP CONTINUED
CAUTION
The MSD is supplied with a power converter/battery charger (Figure 4, Item 9), 24V DC
NATO power cable (Figure 4, Item 3), AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6), and a 230V AC
plug adapter (Figure 4, Item 8). The power converter/battery charger allows the MSD to
operate on 24V DC, 115V AC, or 230V AC.
Do not connect both DC power cable and AC input cord at the same time.
Failure to follow this caution will result in damage to equipment.
6. Determine voltage source to be used for the MSD:
a. 24V DC voltage source, proceed to 24V DC Cable Connection.
b. 115V AC voltage source, proceed to 115V AC Input Cord Connection.
c.
230V AC voltage source, proceed to 230V AC Connection.
24V DC Cable Connection
0008
1. Remove NATO power cable (Figure 4, Item 3) from the MSD case (Figure 4, Item 1).
2. Remove protective cap (Figure 4, Item 5) from the DC input power connector (Figure 4, Item 4) and connect
NATO power cable (Figure 4, Item 3) to the DC input power connector (Figure 4, Item 4) by turning metal ring
on NATO power cable clockwise.
3. Remove protective cap (Figure 4, Item 2) from NATO power cable and connect NATO power cable (Figure 4,
Item 3) to machine NATO slave receptacle (TM 5-3805-298-10); then proceed to Starting MSD in this work
package.
115V AC Input Cord Connection
0008
1. Remove AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) from MSD case (Figure 4, Item 1).
2. Connect AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) to the AC input connector (Figure 4, Item 7).
3. Connect the other end of AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) to suitable 115V AC voltage source; then proceed to
Starting MSD in this work package.
230V AC Connection
0008
1. Remove AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) from MSD case (Figure 4, Item 1).
2. Connect the AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) to the AC input connector (Figure 4, Item 7).
3. Remove 230V AC plug adapter (Figure 4, Item 8) from MSD case (Figure 4, Item 1).
4. Install the 230V AC plug adapter (Figure 4, Item 8) on AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6).
5. Connect the other end of AC input cord (Figure 4, Item 6) with 230V AC plug adapter (Figure 4, Item 8) to
suitable 230V AC voltage supply; then proceed to Starting MSD in this work package.
