NOTE
New fuel injection pumps are supplied locked in correct position. If fuel injection pump has
been unlocked and timing lost, follow steps 1-3 to set pump timing. If fuel injection pump is
in time, go to step 4.
Fuel injection pump must remain locked until procedure instructs to unlock.
1. Loosen and back off locking screw (Figure 15, Item 4) on fuel injection pump (Figure 15, Item 3), and install
timing tool as follows.
a. Install timing tool (Figure 15, Item 6) on fuel injection pump (Figure 15, Item 3).
b. Align lever (Figure 15, Item 1) with key slot (Figure 15, Item 2) and engage lever.
c.
Use lever (Figure 15, Item 1) to rotate shaft until locking pin (Figure 15, Item 7) can be inserted into hole
(Figure 15, Item 5).
NOTE
Locking pin must insert into hole with no resistance.
Fuel injection pump must remain locked until procedure instructs to unlock fuel pump.
2. If locking pin (Figure 15, Item 7) inserts with no resistance, tighten locking screw (Figure 15, Item 4) on fuel
injection pump (Figure 15, Item 3). If locking pin has resistance, return to step 1.
3. Remove timing tool (Figure 15, Item 6) from fuel injection pump (Figure 15, Item 3).
