This work package provides a functional description of major systems found on the Backhoe Loader (BHL). It also
describes how these systems interact.
The BHL is a pneumatic-tired, diesel-engine-driven, Two-Wheel-Drive/Four-Wheel-Drive (2WD/4WD) Front End
Loader (FEL)/Backhoe used for excavation of small emplacements, material handling, and general construction
tasks.
The BHL consists of the following functional systems:
Engine
Hydraulic system
FEL and backhoe
