WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use
assistance during procedure. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury or death to
personnel.
NOTE
Hood weighs 98 lb (45 kg).
1. With assistance, hold hood (Figure 1, Item 5) partially open.
2. Remove bolt (Figure 1, Item 1), washer (Figure 1, Item 2), spacer (Figure 1, Item 3), and cable (Figure 1,
Item 4) from radiator support (Figure 1, Item 9).
NOTE
The procedure for shock absorber replacement is identical for left-hand and right-hand
shock absorbers. Right-hand shock absorber is shown in this procedure.
3. Remove two clips (Figure 1, Item 7) from right-hand shock absorber (Figure 1, Item 6).
4. Remove shock absorber (Figure 1, Item 6) from two pivots (Figure 1, Item 8).
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for left-hand shock absorber.
6. With assistance, lower hood (Figure 1, Item 5) to closed position.
