TM 5-3805-358-24-1 Every 250 Service Hours or Monthly 3. Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. The machine should not move. PARKING BRAKE - TESTING WARNING Be sure the area around machine is clear of personnel and obstructions. WARNING Be sure the antipivot link is in stored position. WARNING Test the brakes on a dry, level surface. WARNING Fasten the seat belt before testing the brakes. WARNING If the machine begins to move, reduce the engine speed immediately and apply the parking brake. 1. Start the engine and raise the bucket slightly. 4. Reduce the engine speed to low idle, shift the transmission to NEUTRAL. Apply the parking brake, lower the bucket to the ground and stop the engine. CAUTION If the machine moved while testing the brakes, repair the service brakes before returning the machine to operation. 2. With the parking brake applied shift the transmission to 1st speed forward. 1-50
